You may recognise a couple of the people in this short video produced by The food Academy. Yes that’s right they are now employed with us at the Rainbow Centre on the Dollis Valley estate.
DOLLIS DOLLS Nail Bar is run by the young ladies of Dollis Valley and charity Art Against Knives. Doors are open every Tuesday from 4-6.30pm to females of all ages from the local area. The project has been designed by local residents as a means of developing safe spaces to encourage interaction between young girls and women.
The weekly session delivers a bespoke training and mentoring programme to support females in learning new skills, maintaining commitment and meeting new people. Since it opened in October 2012 over 200 females have come through the doors! So why not come down and get your nails done for FREE, learn new creative skills, build on your confidence, gain access to local support services, or ask us for help in accessing education, employment and training. Just turn up, or drop us a line: email@example.com

You are invited to our Community Kitchen Christmas Dinner on Friday 19th December at 1pm. The cost is £1 for a 3 course meal, come down to the Rainbow from 12pm, have a coffee and meet with folks.
As I look back over the year I am encouraged by the variety projects which have been run from the Rainbow centre and the amazing contributions of time and effort that people have given to the community. I love the work of the Lunch Club feeding children and providing good quality activities. I have been especially encouraged by the numbers of young people finding full time work recently, we have worked with some of them for 3 years now and it is good to see fruit from our labour. There are so many amazing things happening there is not time to list them all here. But thank you to everyone who gave so much. One highlight for me was the cycle challenge I did in September, cycling 6 countries in 6 days. It was great facing such a challenge with a group of people and supporting one another to achieve our aim. It is what we are seeking to do here at the Rainbow by helping people work together as community to head towards the future they are hoping for.
I trust you have a restful and fun Christmas – the diet starts January 2nd! Looking forward to working and sharing together with you in 2015.

There are changes stirring in the Arc Café; a new vibrancy is spreading out into the Dollis Valley Community and there is an excitement in the air.
We are extremely pleased to announce that we have a new Chef in residence. Paul Stevens has joined us and is running the kitchen at the centre. We are looking forward to tasting his new menu that is being rolled out even as this newsletter is being written. We will be selling hot and cold food, including great breakfasts that will easily keep you going until lunchtime, after which you will be able to return to the Café for a scrumptious hot or cold meal. You want a good cup of coffee? There are plenty of choices and a sandwich, biscuit or cake to go with it. Who can resist? So, come along to the Arc Café and meet the staff and the Chef and share this new experience with us. We look forward to seeing you!
We are excited to report that the Centre has never been so busy with an almost full weekly schedule of courses and clubs. The centre’s regular bookings reflect the Communities diversity and really helps promote the community feel we love. Please see the selection of the various activities in our calendar here to see the extent of work being done at the Rainbow Centre and through Barnet Community Projects.
We are always looking for volunteers at the Rainbow Centre who would be willing to give up some hours of their day/week to come and help out in various ways. If you feel that you would like to contribute some of your time to the Rainbow Centre, please contact using the form at the bottom of this newsletter so that we can share our vision with you. We are a Friendly group with a positive attitude towards change and growth and would love to share that with others.
Every Friday we run a Community Kitchen at the Rainbow Centre. This is what it sounds like! You can come and get an extremely tasty three course meal for just £1.00!! Come along and see what this does to your taste buds – a definite temptation and not to be missed!
