Tuesday’s at the Rainbow centre.
Dollis Dolls Nails is a nail bar run by a group of young, talented girls from Dollis Valley Estate, London, set up and supported by the charity Art Against Knives. Come by to get your nails done, or learn how to do them – we’re open every Tuesday from 4.00 until 6.30.
The Dollis Dolls Nail Bar has been in full swing since 2012. The weekly project is run by the young ladies from Dollis Valley Estate in North London. Since its doors opened, over 100 females have attended. They’re now learning professional nail care, designing their own nail art, and running pop up nail bar events for other women in their local community. It is open to ladies of all ages, whether they want to get their nails done for free or learn how to do nails. Girls are also encouraged to just come by and socialise with friends. We also provide one-on-one mentoring support with personal issues, such as housing, help with homework, CV’s, as well as support into getting education, employment, and training.

It took us a while to get this together as we’ve been so busy. The one good thing about the colder months is we’ve had the chance to catch up on all the things we didn’t manage to get round to. Please enjoy.
On Sunday 31st of august 2014 Barnet Community Projects partnered with residents in the local community to put on a family fun day on our local green space. After a couple of months of planning and a lot of hard work we were all able to enjoy our efforts. We were supported by local business, individuals and other organisations. You may recognise a couple of the people in this short video produced by The food Academy. Yes that’s right they are now employed with us at the Rainbow Centre on the Dollis Valley estate.
DOLLIS DOLLS Nail Bar is run by the young ladies of Dollis Valley and charity Art Against Knives. Doors are open every Tuesday from 4-6.30pm to females of all ages from the local area. The project has been designed by local residents as a means of developing safe spaces to encourage interaction between young girls and women.
The weekly session delivers a bespoke training and mentoring programme to support females in learning new skills, maintaining commitment and meeting new people. Since it opened in October 2012 over 200 females have come through the doors! So why not come down and get your nails done for FREE, learn new creative skills, build on your confidence, gain access to local support services, or ask us for help in accessing education, employment and training.
